Dear Senator Ernst,

Thanks for sending the poll about the healthcare proposal. I was unable to get the button to work. I do not support the bill and hope that you will not as well. The 2008 election was for a large part about the need for access to healthcare for all Americans. The Affordable Care Act was a great start for achieving this, but Republican opposition led by the Libertarian Tea Party never allowed it to work. Governor Branstad could have tapped into much more federal support for Iowa’s exchanges, but refused because of party ideology. The repeal and replace mantra of the Republican Party is more about ideology than solutions. This legislation would be quite a step back as the AMA and many others with boots on the ground have pointed out. I urge you to find another solution that can be done in a bipartisan fashion. Thank you.
